Hi!
Sorry I know this topic has probably been asked a lot but I can't seem to find an answer to my question.

I sent a thank you letter to my interviewer but should I also send a letter to the admissions committee as well? And how would I address it? Dear Admissions?

There's an admissions staff assist that I've been receiving calls and emails from. Should I just address it specifically to her instead?

Haha sorry I know this sounds stupid but I would really appreciate the help.

I wouldn't write a thank you note to the adcom... maybe to that person if you really want, but i think there are better things you can do with your time and it wont change your chances of getting an acceptance.

I sent one to each of the members on my panel interview, as well as to the admissions staff "secretaries." I don't think it is a waste of time at all. They have more say than most applicants realize, and it is always best to leave a positive, lasting impression with each member of the admissions committee, no matter how unimportant they may appear to be in regards to your admission decision. Let him/her know how appreciative you are for all of their time and help through this process, and that you look forward to interacting with him/her in the future. It's just something little, but I will bet it could get you another "little gold star" on your file 🙂 Good luck!

I would agree that it looks pretty classy to follow up with thank you's especially if you end up going to that school. You will already have a good reputation with the staff if you ever need something. You don't have to go crazy and send them to everyone, but I did send them to key speakers during the day and to each interviewer.

The only schools where I sent thank yous I got waitlisted and rejected. Got accepted when I didn't.

DONT DO IT! 👍

😛

Clearly, thank yous don't have much bearing on admission. I will however say that you should not be sending thank yous to bolster your application; you should send them because your interviewers and the admissions staff have put a lot of time and energy into your interview day. That said, I always send letters to the specific people from the admissions office that took an active role during my visits. Rule of thumb is that if you are ever in doubt about whether or not to send a thank you card, send one.
