Letters of rec.. Waive my access to them??

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
From what I have heard, it's better to waive your access to LORs because then the recommenders can be more honest in their assessments of you. If you have access to your LORs, reviewers may wonder if the recommender is being completely honest or just saying nice things because you will read it.

what do most schools prefer or require? im using a letter collection service, so should I waive my right to view the letter.
most def waive it... Your LOR writers will be more honest, and as a result your letters will be stronger....

No. You have it wrong. Not waiving your right to read the letters raises a red flag with admissions people and program directors because it says you didn't trust your letter writer to write a good letter.

It's kind of of squirrley and makes you look like someone with something to hide.

Panda Bear took it from the adcom's perspective...you took it more from the recommender's perspective.

Ooooh ooops, 😳 I need another cup of coffee!

We must stand up for our rights! Don't give in! Retain your right to full access to your letters! 😛
