So right now this is owning me so bad. I only have one letter in from science teacher. Im still working on getting my md and do letter writers to submit the letter. So my question is how many letters should I really have to where it doesnt look bad? I was planning on having five- one md one do 2 science and one from pre med council but the other science is being super flaky. Would it look bad if I have only 3-4?

honestly im starting to think getting letters is the hardest part of this process...

edit- i cant count.

I'm pretty sure you need a committee letter or 2 LORs from science professors, a DO/MD letter, and an extra letter from a non-science professor (for some schools). Besides that I don't think you need any more letters. Having 1 or 2 extra can't hurt, but don't go overboard and send schools 20 letters.

You definitely do not need a committee letter, though I have heard that if your school does do committee letters and you don't get one... well it's not a red flag, but it certainly might hurt you a little.

Look a few threads down, I posted a link to a spreadsheet of schools that "require" a DO letter. Definitely helps to have an MD/DO letter, but I think letters from science teachers are important too. If you can't get a good science LOR, just get a generic one if only to make sure you meet all requirements.

hardest part indeed, i have been going back forth with this crap since the beginning of the semester.

I disagree. Wait until you start trying to describe your volunteering in a way that makes it seem more significant than "I helped out where needed and tried to stay out of the way."

I feel like the meat of my shadowing/volunteering experience is in what I learned from them, but I'm trying not to include that in my AACOMAS/AMCAS "description" so that I can talk about it in secondaries or interviews without repeating it all.
