🙁 I am sorry if I am coming across as an absolute idiot but I have some more queries regarding the admission application...My problem is that I have letters of recommendation from 2002. I came to the US in 2003 and did an MPH here. The question is do I get new letters from back home with a new date? apart from the fact that will require a lot of effort does it make sense? I mean after 2002 I had no contact with my teachers and they will write the same thing....and the principal of my college has also changed.. 🙁

Could anyone please provide some insight..If I need new letters I'd better get my ass moving..

Thanx..

I'm in the same situation like you, what I did is I asked a friend of mine to go to the University back home and ask the Dean and one more Prof for a LOR for me, then he will send it to me via mail.

I had the same problem as you & unfortunately , when I called the universities they insisted they will absolutely will not accept reccos older than a year ......I had to get them all over again thro a friend from India which took well over a month I might add!!!

I know it makes no sense but I would suggest that you get the ball rolling on getting fresh ones ASAP.

Thanx a lot..seems i will have to get new letters.. 🙁 anyway...was wondering how someone could email u a letter..I mean don't u need a specific letter head?

Thanx again..

I do not think the emailed LOR will work especially in some univs as they require them to be in original letterheads ....sealed with sign on the flap of the envelope.... when you are getting them better make sure they are sealed!!!

I don't think it has to be sealed. Last time I've got it, it was signed by Dean, by Secretary , registred stamp and the University's stamp...........I made copies, like 10 of them, then notorized and legalized them. That's how I sent it in to the schools.
You think the Dean and Secretary will sign and stamp 10 LOR just for you..............I don't think so.
Legalized copies in my opinion is fine.

Do what Sunita did:

ASK!

That is the most important thing. Call up each univ and ask them what are their requirements for LORs. Note down whom you spoke to and the time and date.

Start the process of getting LORs from home.

Have you thought about getting one/two from your faculty here? It does not always have to say how you are excellent at Endo and your crowns fit very well!!!!

Getting Letters of Recommendations from ur faculty from MPH course will surely add weight to your application. Maybe u can ask ur program director to write one for u.
But these letters do not substitute for the ones from ur dental program.
