I have three letters of recommendation all submitted on OptomCAS, but I'm wondering if most programs have any sort of standards on letter writers. I had an OD that I shadowed and know really well write one, my Honor's Program director, and my physics professor. I know they will be good letters, but I'm not sure if some schools might have requirements that a certain amount be by O.D.'s or other stipulations.

Thanks,

It depends on the specific school you are applying to. You can look at this. http://www.optomcas.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=62&Itemid=39

Yea different schools definitely have specifications. Some of them are very specific - one from an OD, one from a professor, one from an employer, etc (something like that). Others say at least one from an OD and 2 from "other sources, but blah blah blah preferred".

I submitted all four letters to have my bases covered. I had one OD, one employer, and 2 professors...because one school wanted one of each while another wanted two academic and no employer. Just check with them (or check that website - but then follow up with schools to make sure!)
