Letters of Recommendation

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I got a letter of recommendation from my calculus instructor. No one had an issue with it. It was in a packet with 3 letters from science professors though.

I think it would *probably* be okay.

Better an amazing letter from an "adjunct instructor" than a form letter from a PhD. (Unless the PhD won the nobel prize, then I'd reconsider.)

The content of your LORs matter most. Out of all the LORs the one written by a DO is weighted heaviest. So even if your sciences ones were so-so, make sure your DO writes an awesome LOR.

Hey guys quick question. Is it okay to get a letter of recommendation from a non science professor who doesn't have a phd and has the title of "adjunct instructor?"
I got a letter from my OChem lab instructor. I think he had grad level credentials, but he was listed as an instructor. It still counted.

Depends on the school. Some schools don't care, where as I have applied to schools that required it to be a PhD and/or a DO or MD. So you need to check with the school you are applying to. I had a non-science grad student write me a letter (didn't end up using it), and the school I applied to said it was okay if their PhD instructor signed the letter at the end as well. So there is all kinds, so it is best to check with the school.
