Letters of Recommendation

I'm not planning to apply until May 2009 but I want to know some things about LOR's.

1. Do schools ask for specific LOR's from a chem, bio, or physics professor?

Because if they do I should start thinking about requesting one this quarter since I'll be finishing up my Ochem

I would hold off on requesting one until next spring. They do not need a year to write a recommendation. However, don't give them only a week to write it when your applying. If you ask now, they surely will forget by the time you need it.
