I haven't heard anything from my internship about this... but I have the strange feeling that I have a lot of paperwork ahead.

I've signed my contracts and finished the background check paperwork that was sent to me.

What am I missing? Surely someone will require proof that I graduated medical school?

I'd like to get the process started so that I can enjoy a nice vacation.

Your program will let you know what you need to submit in due time.

I still haven't heard anything from my program, either. I even called to ask if I had any additional work to do after the Match. I was told, "There's no need to contact us."

you may have to fill out a credentialing application for the hospital.

you may have to apply for a temporary training permit depending on which state you are in . I know ohio has one and nj and pa has one. so call those medicla boards. If you are eligible for alicense, apply for one. Try to take step 3 and get that out of the way as soon as possible. There are time limits for the state medical boards for how long you can wait to take step 3. If 7 years elapses between step 1 and step 3 you either have to retake step 1 or go to another state to work that doesnt have that time limit, which is like 6 states.

he/she doesn't need to take Step 3 now. This person hasn't even finished med school. What is the rush? It's an easier test with 1 or 2 years of residency under your belt...well at least it was with a couple years IM residency under my belt.

Don't worry, your program will tell you what you need to do. Just enjoy the rest of 4th year. Some states just grant some sort of automatic training license to residents...I never had to apply for one at all before starting internship. Someone @your program will ask for a copy of your med school diploma and final transcript at some point, but most students don't even have those yet because they don't graduate until May. I think I was asked for these during my orientation or right at the beginning of internship.
