There are 2 schools of thought about this.
One is that only physicians should be able to generate a life care plan. To do this requires a phenomenal amount of time and knowledge of actuarial tables and access to pricelists of O&P services, adaptive aids and the like. You also need to be willing to ***** yourself to either plaintiff or defense attorneys for marketing. These reports take a LOT of time.
The other is the school that I subscribe to. Let a Certified Lifecare Planner (CLP) generate the report, and you just sign off on it as part of an IME. The problem is if you disagree. I used to work with a CLP, and then she sent a report that was not fair & equitable. It grossly overestimated future medical care. I said so in my report (in a more politically correct way). That was 5 years ago, and I have never seen another of her clients.
It is very important to not compromise your ethics when you enter that aspect of Physiatry.
