Hi folks, is there anyone that has been displaced like me by Hurricane Katrina? It totally stinks because I was still waiting on recommendations and transcripts from my professors and schools in New Orleans. Now that I can't get them, my application will be incomplete. Time's ticking and deadlines are fast approaching. Talk about having difficulties. I lost everything I own but the clothes on my back and my little dog. Everything I've worked so hard for is now drowning in the toxic filth that's flooded my home. I've been mooching off my friend in Houston and feel so bad about it. I have nowhere else to go and no money to spend, yet I still have to worry about studying for the DAT and applying and so much else! Talk about a bump in the road, huh? I don't mean to sound like a cry baby. I am very grateful I made it out safely, but dang- it makes everythying so much more difficult. Gosh, puts everything into perspective. So if anyone else is in the same boat, I'd like to hear your story.

It's tough, but you can definitely get through it. Best wishes to you and the survivors of Hurricane Katrina.

Hang in there. A guy I met during my summer internship lives/lived in Biloxi. I don't know how he made out but he's supposed to be applying to Med School this year so he might be in the same boat (or worse).
If you can make it through this alright and still get decent scores on your DATs etc., even if you take a year out, it will definitely show strength of character, perseverance and the ability to handle the rigors of any professional school +++++ and all that will be visible to adcoms.
