Like to add more DO schools of lower end with Mcat 27, any advice.

My gpa 3.6, Mcat 27, already got denial from RV COM, still waiting from DMV , WCCOM and Kirksville. Desperately trying to get another interview after KCU rejected after interview. Any advice to add more low end DO schools .
 
Lol DMV!

I would add TUNCOM, CUSOM, WVSOM, MUCOM, NSU, LECOM, LECOM-B, KYCOM, LMU-DCOM, ACOM, BCOM
Ideally with your stats, you want to lengthen your list and apply broadly.
 
You pretty much can apply to all the schools excepts for the regionally biased ones, such as ROWAN, NYIT, and especially DMV.

Thanks, too many essays writing is the only problem when you are busy in regular semester.

I feel you bro/sis. I work 50 hours a week, tutor 10 hours/week, and argue with my crazy girlfriend daily. If you do the research, you will know what school you want to apply for.

Stay away from MSU-COM, all of the west coast schools, and OU-HCOM. If you like religion, you can add LUCOM. I got rejected by them because I didnt have all of LORs ready. They wouldnt take my Jesus's LOR, not a science professor or D.O.

Well, you need to figure out a way to get out of this situation. It is hurting both her and yourself. She needs some help if she can't stand up on her own.

It really sounds like a very unhealthy relationship. Med school is just going to put even a bigger strain on it.

Don't think you need to worry about applying to "low end" DO schools with a 27. But yeah, use the table above..but make sure you look into much more than just MCAT average.. Location, in-state preferences (pub/private), whether you actually like the school. I know it's scary to get rejected post interview but no need to panic, just find couple more schools that you have an interest in!

Where do these stats come from?

PCOM's stats look pretty low for being a top DO school.

I'm pretty sure he gets it from current students there or the website. @user3 ? But PCOM essentially gets to pick whoever they want because a lot of MD rejects apply here, it seems that they don't just weigh the stats of the applicants as heavy as some other schools. I've always been curious as this as well

I think I got the PCOM ones in an email awhile ago, I'm not sure they are accurate, so I have taken them down.

I'm still waiting on DMV as well. You need a pretty high MCAT score to get into DMV, and unfortunately they waitlist all applicants before the Interview.

wow, and thats with 270 students. I said this in another thread but KCU would have solidly MD-caliber admissions standards if that class size was cut in half.

Do you think TouroCOM NY is over 31 mcat now? Seems to be higher than some MD school averages

I think the bigger reason is the emphasis we put on applying early. Last year anyone that interviewed after December was interviewing for the waitlist, and no one that submitted a secondary after mid-October got an interview before January. So basically if you didn't get your secondary in by mid-October you were applying for the waitlist. Supposedly there were a fair number of people that applied with mid-30s MCATs that were rejected because they didn't submit secondaries until December or later and interview dates filled up.

I hope that is some gunner metaphor or something. Even my state school doesn't have the those percentages realistically and it is in a predominantly Asian state.

Nope, no metaphors at all. The stat was taken directly from AACOM and I sure hope it's an exaggerated data too lol

I attended the PCOM-PA open house a few months ago and here are the most recent averages (I wrote it down during the presentation): c3.5/s3.4/27.47 (9.5/9.2/8.77). 8350 applied last year, 5556 secondaries submitted,696 II, 416 accepted, 270 enrolled.

i'm quite surprised how low their overall stats are. perhaps they don't care as much about stats as other schools.

Agreed. We def have MD-caliber students here for sure. I know of a handful who had interviews to UCLA, Ohio State, Case Western, Rochester, Duke, UNC Chapel Hill.

That said, halfing the class size would be really good for the entire class. Don't think it'll ever happen though because the school relies on tuition money to function (alumni funding at KCU is meh).
 
Are people seriously using the percent of Asian students as a metric for gauging gunners? And a "predominantly Asian state" @IslandStyle808 ? Every state in the US is predominantly Caucasian... by a gigantic margin.

I'm not really offended, just wondering what makes people think/say these things.

I am trying to remember why I wrote that 5 months ago. I am pretty sure I was joking around about the gunner part. I think it was more to say I was amazed by the percentage of Asian in some schools. I had a hard time believing the numbers.

I wasn't trying to single you out at all, queenjames had commented on that too and I just don't get it. I had no idea NYIT and Touro NV are half Asian, that was surprising to me too.

To keep this sort of on topic, glad OP applied more broadly and got some interviews... Asians/gunners aside
