line in the middle of a cube?

On Crack DAT PAT test #2 question #70-73 cube counting. I encounted this same type of problem on the real DAT and didn't know how to count it.

Problem: there is a line in the middle of a cube. How do we count that and what does the line mean? Is my question clear? 😕

Please help...

Yes, people call it the illusion, but it is a mistake. I think it has already been reported though.
