I posted on linkedIn but I don't have any connections because the pharmacists I know are working and have no need for linkedIn. Now, I have skills to offer in pharmacy outside of the traditional dispensing roles like new operations start-up in the California jurisdiction, policy drafting, Board citation remediation, compounding (not IV), immunization services planning and execution, teaching and precepting (pro bono for interested students and new grads) and other ideas.

Why am I bringing this up?:prof: Because I want to increase my network and see where it leads. Can anyone direct me or suggest something? I am not interested in cold calling DMs or clinical people who are established with no alternative needs. :nono:I recognize the anonymous aspect of SDN but if anyone else would like to start networking in this cyber professional venue please PM me. :hello:

Thanks. :biglove:

Any chance we can get an update on how your cyber-networking is going? I've considered joining LinkedIn before, but 1) I'm not sure if people in the pharmacy world actually use it to make networking connections and 2) I have heard that it can take over your e-mail inbox if you're not careful with your settings.

I use linked in and I think the networking is great ! I have received some potential job offers from recruiters however due to me currently being a resident and the whole timing I had to decline but still keep in touch because I never know when I am finished.

As a LinkedIn expert (according to my LinkedIn stats....lol), your best bet is to make your profile "keyword" rich (add a bunch of skills). Also, make your byline marketable: Bridget Jones | MTM Specialist | Pharm.D. extraordinaire.......etc. You get the idea?

Connect with as many recruiters around various pharmacy markets and start getting creative with that LinkedIn job search engine. I have discovered quite a few treasures hidden in the bowels of LinkedIn (Unicorn jobs!).

Good luck!

I thought this thread was doomed so thanks for reviving in. To be honest Bueller I did not even know how to "connect" until I asked a co-worker the other day. To me LinkedIn only offered information of a "smoke up the butt" variety as far as the " groups" go. These venues are not anonymous so as you can imagine no body keeps it real and there is a lot of time wasting superfluous pie in the sky crap. Incidentally the group I was following flat lined to a dull buzz of random tweets for self promotion (yawn) and I have actually gotten richer information on MTM around here via TypeB Pharm D.

I am going to implement CosmoRx's recommendations. I think the recruiter connection will be a good deal. Where I discern an ROI I will be sure and let you know. You should get your face out there though. I keep an email address specific for junk and solicitation. They can fill it to the gigabyte max for all I care.

Thanks for the update! I look forward to hearing if it becomes a beneficial tool for you - it sounds like with the right strategies it might be very useful.
