How detailed does AAMC go with regard to lipids? Are there specific lipids one should know about or just general characteristics?

I would say more on the biochemistry side, such as beta oxidation. Understand when are lipids used in the body.

They're not going to ask you if you remember what the structure of sterol is. Most likely, they will give you the structure and ask you questions based on that. You should also know the common ways of designating a lipid though, specifically where the sites of desaturation are. And which carbons are the alpha, beta, and omega.
