For those of you who have taken the OAT, please respond to the following questions so the same questions aren't repeated. I stole this from a PCAT forum, but it works just the same:

1) What did you score on the individual sections and the composite score?

2) How did you study for each section?

3) What materials did you use?

4) How long did you study for the OAT?

5) At what point in your coursework did you take the OAT?

6) What is/was your major and/or emphasis of study, if applicable?

7) Did anything catch you by surprise?

8) Do you have any other advice?

9) Is it appropriate to use MCAT study materials? Do they overprepare you?

1) What did you score on the individual sections and the composite score?
Biology - 310
Gen Chem - 370
Org Chem - 390
RC - 350
Physics - 370
QR - 350
----------------
AA - 360
TS - 360

2) How did you study for each section?
For bio, chem, o chem, and physcis I just used my old notes and text books. I didn't do any preparation for the reading comprehension. For QR, I found high school math problems on the internet and tried to cover the sections outlined in the OAT manual. You have to practice quick math without a calculator!!!!

3) What materials did you use?
Old notes and text books.

4) How long did you study for the OAT?
2 months during the summer while working full time

5) At what point in your coursework did you take the OAT?
After four years of university (I had my bachelor of science at the time)

6) What is/was your major and/or emphasis of study, if applicable?
Chemistry

7) Did anything catch you by surprise?
I found biology to be tricky.... it wasn't that I didn't prepare for it, I guess I just didn't study everything that I should have.

8) Do you have any other advice?
Just make sure you pace yourself. The only section that I was pressed for time was QR. All the other sections I had time to go back and check over my answers. Also, don't be scared of the computer format. It is really easy to navigate through. You can see all the screens and what it will look like ahead of time at www.opted.org in the examinee guide.

9) Is it appropriate to use MCAT study materials? Do they overprepare you?
I have no idea... I didn't use them!!!
