I called MT. Sinai and they were extremely nice and urged me to send more than just 2 if I wanted to. They said the more strong recommendations you can send, the better it is for your file. Same with Yale..same with Washington Univ., and a couple others...all want more!
I have sent in a good amount to many of the schools... like 5 on average each..•

Thanks, Scooby, for clearing that up. I guess Tulane is the only one actively discouraging additional recs (and I haven't called them -- just going by their instructions).

Got Case Western's secondary by snail mail yesterday. They want a long (groan) essay on something unrelated to medicine.

UVA-premed - How did GW notify you for the interview? Congratulations!

I got a letter through snail mail...

they didn't put my name on it:

"Dear applicant" 🙂

But it's good enough for me!

columbia has started scheduling interviews? anyone here scheduled at columbia?

U. of Michigan Interview:
September 14th

Well, I have submitted a bunch a secondaries but still working on Duke's, Northwestern's etc. but so far the interviews I have are:

Baylor (Sept. 7)
Tulane (Sept. 27)

and today I got an interview invite from:
University of Chicago, Pritzker for sometime in september.

😱

I can't complain though even though I will be spending more than a 1000 dollars for travel arrangements in the month of September. I am just thrilled that things are slowly turning for the better. Hang in there everyone!

P.S. F*#& AMCAS.

My first choice right now is Harvard probably because of their affiliation with MIT and the great possibilities for bioengineering research.

But thats up for change.

My stats are posted on the interview thread

Maybe they're still screening by the primary AMCAS app. I know they couldn't have looked at my secondary, because it's stuffed into my backpack and completely blank.

my GWU interview is for Sept 20.

congrats wahoo, are you in-state? I'm still waiting to hear from UVA. (I'm a 4th year here)

MacGyver, How did Yale contact you for your interview? BTW, Congrats.

I got a letter in the mail from them.

I got a UT Southwestern interview today in the mail for Oct. 13th! That makes four interviews!

Baylor
U. Chicago
Tulane
UT Southwestern

I'm in a state of shock, my parents just called and said some lady from JHU called and invited me to interview on Sept 13.

wow.

praise God... I didn't think I had ANY chance at all of even being CONSIDERED for Johns Hopkins, I just sent the secondary in because my parents wanted me to. (my stats are not very impressive at all)

I can hardly believe it myself, but hopefully I'll survive the GW interview on the 11th and then the other one on the 13th. A lot of pressure to perform now, I reckon, but I have peace knowing that God will place me into whatever med school He desires me to be in. Takes a load off my back 🙂...

anyways, I hope that everyone is holding up amongst all this application stress! Best of luck with interviews...

Hi Chunk-ee-- yup, I'm in-state and also a 4th year here. Good luck on your UVA app, I'm sure you'll be hearing from them soon if you've already heard from Hopkins.

Can either of you tell me how I can contact them again? I missed their call in hours M, T,W 2-4:30

Chunke-ee, would you mind posting your stats? Much appreciated.

Ignore that previous message.

I had my premed advisor call back Johns Hopkins.

I got interview to JH for Sept 20! 🙂 🙂 🙂

None, my pre-med committee letter is STILL not done 😡 It's exactly 3 weeks today since my committee interview. I keep subtly hinting at my annoyance with the office when I drop by or send an email on a related topic. First AMCAS slows us all down, then my own pre-med committee (which is supposed to be there to help) further puts on my brakes. Like other people have said though, we will look back and laugh at this... 🙄

Vanderbilt: Monday September 24th. Anyone else going then? I'm dying to visit Graceland... 🙂

Secondaries:

Boston (sent 17 Aug)
Dartmouth (still sitting there)
Harvard (sent 19 Aug)
Cornell (sent 20 Aug)
Johns Hopkins (sent 21 Aug)
USC (almost done)
SUNY-Brooklyn (need to figure out what personal qualities prepare me for living in NYC??)
SUNY-Syracuse (sent 20 Aug)
Stanford (sent 20 Aug)
U of Colorado (just received)
Washington University (sent 14 Aug)

Plus, I sent off the paper apps to the UCs, received a postcard from Hawaii asking for MCAT scores and another from U of Miami asking if I'm really interested or if I was just playing pretend on my AMCAS app.

No interviews - my PI just sent in my rec after two months of waiting...

I'll be there on the 25th... unfortunately I have to fly back immediately so probably wont get to see any of the sights.

Do you know if Vanderbilt has a student host program? I dont remember them mentioning anything about it in the letter they sent, but I could be wrong.
