List the secondaries and interviews you have so far

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
OK, here's what I've got so far:

Secondaries:
Johns Hopkins
Baylor
University of Utah
Oregon (received today)
NYMC
Boston U.
Medical College of Wisconsin
Pitt
Penn State
Saint Louis U.
George Washington U.

Interviews:
Baylor
Pitt

Man, that is kind of a big list now that I look at it. I really didn't know what I was getting myself into!

USef, I can really sympathize with you! I submitted AMCAS on June 26th, it was processed July 26th, and I've completed fourteen secondaries out of the eighteen schools to which I'm applying. But still no word...why??? Because my committee packet has not been submitted, despite the fact that all of my letters were on file and my interview was conducted in the beginning of June!!!! Is this ridiculous?

I genuinely hope that the process speeds along for you, and that those who should be supporting you get on the ball. I can understand how frustrated you must be!

Good luck to everyone in this crazy process!

My turn to add to the list I guess.

Secondaries:
Yale
Harvard
Johns Hopkins
Vanderbilt
Cornell
Ohio State
Mount Sinai
Albert Einstein
Rochester
Duke
U of Washington
U of Michigan
Stanford
U of Pennsylvania
Washington University
U of Chicago
Baylor

Completed:
Washington University
U of Pennsylvania
Baylor
Rochester
Albert Einstein
Cornell
U of Michigan
Yale

Interviews:
Rochester

These apps are really starting to kill me.

Moonlight: I greatly appreciate your sympathy. The day before I posted that message I remembered that one of my recommenders is on the committe. I went to him to see what the status was and how it generally works and if the 3 weeks was abnormal. He immediately emailed the person in charge and got back to me today.

It turns out that one of the guys on the committee went out of town and had it sitting on his desk for a couple weeks! 😡 Luckily I called and it will be ready in "2-3 days" phew! Not holding my breath yet, but glad that I asked! 😉

with all your committee problems its a damn good thing Amcas didn't loose your tanscripts like they did to me. My app. wasn't mailed until two months after it was submnitted. I called to see why they had taken my money but nothing was being done and they just said oops our bad, send us a new one! (@ $15 a pop) ugh! 😡 I hope yur problems are resolved quicker than mine were.

promethues and paranoid android what are your stats please? 😀 thanks

also chunkee what interviews you have so far? 😉

good luck everyone

Gosh, everyone seems to be kicking butt getting interviews!!

I will be interviewing one of you special someones at Tulane ... Don't know who yet, but I know when ... I'm excited to get to interview the hopefuls, it should be a good time.

Well, good luck with y'all!

Simul Parikh
Tulane Med '05
Admissions Interviewer, hehehe

I've only got two interviews right now, but it's definitely enough to keep me on my toes 🙂.

GW and JHU!

(p.s. I'd be very happy to get in anywhere... I just want to be a family doctor)

Two more secondaries today, UC Davis (many essays I'm not going to type out all of them here, but one of them is 'Where do you see yourself ten years from now? 🙄 ) and Hawaii (What will you contribute to medicine? and Why do you want to go to Hawaii?) That last one should be obvious. 🙂

Andrew

kutastha, i would really like to know what the UC Davis questions are. Do you mind posting them? I know it might be a lot of typing, but it would really help me. Thanks.

I'll definitely post them tomorrow, unless someone else has them and puts them up first. Sorry, I'm just too exhausted (and a tad hung over still) to type it all out right now.

Andrew

Has anyone recived the secondary from Med. Coll. of Va? Would they mind posting the questions? I'd really appreciate it. PS those waiting for wake forest, admissions told me that the might start mailing them the 2nd week in Sept.

This may seem like a stupid question but what school is JHU? I've noticed a few people mentioning that they have interviews there and not knowing what school it is is starting to bug me. Thanks

Oh, I get it. DUH. For some reason I was thinking Jefferson. Johns Hopkins is way out of my league, which should explain why I was in the dark. Thanks, Gotta

Has anyone gotten secondary from Upitts? Or do they require one?

Received Pittsburgh's secondary on 8/16 (submitted AMCAS on 7/25, sent Pitt my paper copy on 7/30). They have one required 250 word essay on a moral/ethical dilemma you've faced, and an optional 3/4 page essay on whether you'd contribute to the diversity of the school.

Question For Mossjoh:

I see you got secondaries from MSU COM and CHM. I'm still waiting to hear from them, but I probably sent in my primaries later than you did (end of July). What are their secondaries like? Alot of questions?
I'm eagerly awaiting hearing from them because MSU-CHM is probably my top choice.

Oh, and for anyone interested, my list of secondaries and interviews is as follows:

MCW (turned in 8/23)
U-M (turned in 8/17, interview 9/21)
Wayne State (still working on 2ndary)

Still waiting on MSU-COM and CHM.

Best of luck to everyone else plugging away on secondaries! 😀

I applied to 19 schools and I'm waiting for 2 more secondaries to come in (Finch and Howard). Just got an email today about an interview at UMDNJ-NJMS

Just got an interview notice from Thomas Jefferson today via email.

Got my 1st interview - Johns Hopkins, end of September, by snail mail. 😎

Hey guys, long time no speak! I'm quite ecstatic to se that many of you have interviews. Good luck.

So far I've been doing mock interviews with my advisor and friends, seeing that I've done little, if anything at all, medically related. Here's my list so far and I'm getting nervous... my first interview's just around the corner. It would be great to post some tips for those who scheduled their interview early (I have schedule all for october except Columbia and Yale, so anyone interviewing at these two schools before the last week of September, any help will be greatly appreciated).

I still haven't heard from my state schools, oddly enough.

Interviews:
Columbia
George Washington University
U. Pitt
U. Rochester
John Hopkins
Jefferson U
Yale

By the way, I've met two guys who were very excited with their interviews with scores (claimed) to be 25 and 27. One is a nonURM (27), and he got a Yale invite. The other is Latino (25) with both Yale and Columbia. Just to let you know that interview invites do not necessarily go by numbers alone.

My apologies for not frequenting this forum often. Hope I see you guys around.

Scoobydoo, Wednesday, emdeetwobee
what were your stats? 😀

Scooby you got invites for interview without filling the secondary for Vanderbuilt?

thanks

Does anybody without verified AMCAS have Columbia, Yale, or Chicago interviews?

Columbia is a non-AMCAS school.

emdeet..., how long was the turnaround on Rochester, from when they acknowledged your file was complete to getting an interview? Thanks

ewells--I got my Rochester invite (via e-mail) before my Rochester postcard (via regular mail). Stil haven't gotten my regular mail invite, though they say they mailed it a couple weeks ago . . .

Odd, I got the rochester invite via mail only (no email at all), and about 2-3 days after receiving the postcard.

FYI for all you UAB applicants:

The web application is now being sent to applicants via e-mail invite. I just received my e-mail today. Yeah!

Now, I need the four of the other schools to get a move on and get things rolling!! They've been quiet...too quiet. Anyone heard from Creighton??

For the person who sent me a private message regarding Thomas Jefferson. I am not sure if they are sticklers about the 4 recommendation letters. I had the health sciences committee at my school handle it and i believe i had 5 or 6 letters in my committee packet. If you want to apply, go for it, do not let the recommendation letter requirement stop you. If you want to be sure, just call them. If you can't get a 4th letter, they would likely be willing to make an exception.

Hey Pendulum, I got the same email about 2 weeks ago and I returned the secondary a week ago. They definitely have'nt interviewed anyone yet (inside scoop: I aint telling 😛 ) Their's has got to be the most kick-ass secondary ever; wouldnt you agree?: Only biographic info, picture and check. Lets keep in touch on UAB aaight?

Congrats, I will be there on those days also for MD/PhD.
