I've received quite a few secondaries that ask to list all of the medical schools I have applied to and are applying to. Why is this anyone's business? Do I have to? It seems to cross a line in my opinion, perhaps someone can correct my disposition on it.

Thanks

What medical programs do this? None of the 22 I applied to did, nor is it their business unless I'm holding one of their acceptances, IMHO.

No one ever asked me that question in my applications, that seems extremely sketch. Some interviewers have asked me that question, though I think more for personal curiosity than something to actually take into account for admissions.

I've had people ask me that too. Seems pretty douchy to me as well, the only way you can safely get past that response is if you've been coached.

I just wound up telling the truth, I'm actually not sure what the "right" response is supposed to be.

I only remember being asked this by a few schools. Are you applying to historically black schools, DO programs, or places focused on rural medicine? I think Howard asked but the FAQ claimed it was just for their own data that wouldn't impact admission. I was highly suspicious that they were trying to see if application to their unique program was consistent w your application list (i.e. are you claiming to looove rural med, but all your other schools are urban? are you swearing a passion for treating underserved minorities but really applying to schools in the least diverse regions? does it look like a list of schools chosen for lowest mcat or GPA?) It made me uneasy, but I answered honestly (although, I answered only relative to schools completed prior to that secondary)

The TMDSAS asks this in their primary application, I guess to judge how interested you are in schools outside of Texas...
