Hi everyone,

I'll start off about my background.

I live in California, in Orange County. I've recently been bummed out about my Overall GPA(2.75) and my SAT Scores(1050). They are incredibly low to the point where I can't even apply to UC's. But, through it all, I want to be a dermatologist in the future and I've been so desperate for answers that I've even made an account here and a post, which I am currently doing right now. But, I have questions:
1. What should I do right now that'll help me get into Cal-State University?
2. Can I do any majors such as engineering-related(backup in case it doesn't work out) and still apply to Medical School?
3. If I go straight into a Cal-State working on my 4 year bachelor's degree, what should i do in the Cal-State that'll help me get into Medical School?
4. What is Medical School? And how do you apply for it and what schools are best relating to my future profession?
Please, any tips or comments(whether negative or helpful) will be helpful.
Basically a road map from my destination(senior year) to the end goal(Dermatologist!).

Much love and thank you so much for taking the time to read this! And maybe even commenting!

Any major at any college can go to med school.

What you need to solve is why your past grades happened and just don't let it happen in college.

And don't go to med school if you only want derm, frankly the odds are so bad that you risk disappointment

It's not the end of the world for you. You will be fine as long as you have a good plan.

1. Attend a community college if you cannot get admitted to a 4-year university right away. If your end goal is to become a dermatologist then you need to realize that your short-term goals are to do well in your courses. Attend a community college, talk to your academic advisors about your path, and they will talk to you about what courses you need to take. From there, do well, apply to a 4 year university which would be Cal-State. It's very important to do well in community college if you want to meet the requirements to transfer to Cal-State.

2. Any major will work for medical school as long as you have taken the appropriate pre-requisites which are typically a lot of advanced science courses.

3. What you can do at Cal-State to help you get into medical school is simple. Do very in all your classes to achieve a competitive GPA and start preparing for the MCAT as soon as you can. You want the best GPA as well as the best MCAT score you can possibly get. Look into joining medical organizations or science organizations that you're interested in. Volunteer and shadow as much as you can to receive exposure to the field.

4. Medical school is an institution training future doctors. I don't think I have to explain that. Apply by having a good competitive GPA, MCAT score and good amounts of volunteering and etc. Any medical school within the United States, for the most part, will get you where you need to be which is a dermatologist.

Tl;dr
Do well in all your courses, listen to your academic advisors, come back and post when you've made it.
