How much money do dental schools typically give students for living expenses? Is the amount that they give you for living expenses included in the cost of tuition?

Dental schools will loan students a maximum of what they think a dental student will need for each dental school each year. This even includes an allotment for child care, if needed. The amount each school budgets is dependent on the school's tuition, fees and living expenses in their area. This is called the cost of attendance. Should a student need more than allotted, the student can borrow from private lenders that will lend irrespective of the school's cost of attendance budget.

For example, http://www.nyu.edu/financial.aid/tuitiondental-dds.html

Best wishes.

I would not depend on dental school or financial aid alone to pay for living expenses. Try to get help through a relative or some other means. Just my two cents.

I get $15,000 a year. If you live with a roommate it's quite comfortable. If you're trying to support a family...um...it's not.

Living alone from what I hear is really hard too. Try hard to find a roomie and an apartment with utilities included.

Makes life and budgeting way easier.
