I interviewed for USUHS a while back, and I just realized I have no idea of what a military doctor's lifestyle is like. Could someone enlighten me as to the basic stuff (living quarters, things to do on base, etc)?

For example, let's say I get accepted to Navy and then am assigned to the Mercy or Comfort later. What would my quarters as a physician be like? Am I bunking with others in cramped spaces or do doctors get separate rooms?

Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question but I honestly have no idea. Thanks.

Pup tents in the Lejeune swamp. Doctors' tents get bug nets.

Except when deployed, you'll live in a house or apartment or condo or whatever you want. Base housing can be very nice, or you can choose to live off base.

Deployed, you can expect to have a roommate. Quarters vary greatly depending on many factors. My last deployment, I lived in a dorm that was nicer than the one I lived in during my 1st year of college. My first deployment, I spent a lot of time in the dirt, and looked forward to nights in a plywood hut.
