Based on GPAx10+MCAT-1. I found these scores in a very old thread. I think these numbers are based on 2005 USNews rankings. Are these numbers still valid for 2010? Does anyone have the numbers for 2010?

I used LizzyM scores for the fun of it and I got an acceptance to a school that would have been a LONG shot. So I would not worry about this too much. Apply where you want to apply if you can afford it. Use the MSAR book and go from there. An excel spread based on a formula (are you kidding me) is prob not the best way to look at this. It might actually cause more depression if youre on the lower end of the spectrum MCAT and GPA wise so be wary. Just my 2 cents.

It has the opposite effect too lol. I'm gonna troll-brag slightly and say [brag]I have a pretty high LizzyM score that says I'm matched with most of the top 20...[/brag] I have to remind myself that odds are i WONT make such schools, and that if I don't get in, I will end up being like WTF happened, I should have made it.

Take the scores as a general guideline based on past AVERAGES... and remember that there are always outliers to the average:thumbup:

i guess my next question would be, how difficult is it now compared to previous years for getting into med school, with grade inflation and all

Well, with grade inflation and all, the LizzyM scores that schools are looking for (although they don't call it that) when offering interviews is higher now than it was back-when. My school (secret location, don't ask) has a score about 2-3 points higher now than what is shown in the table.

The point of the score is to help people target their applications so that they get some interviews. When I came here, I saw people applying to 20 schools but misdirecting the applications and coming away without any interviews.

What do you guys think of the chemdude score?

"GPA*10+MCAT-9"

If your chemdude score>LizzyM score of a school, you are very likely to get an interview there...

That would say that if a school has an average gpa of 3.6 and an MCAT of 32 for a Lizzy score of 68 then someone who comes along with a 4.0/37 is likely to get an interview. Yes, likely. However, there are schools that will shun those applicants either at interview or in making offers with the idea that the applicant is going to go to a "better" school and the school can protect its "yield" (proportion of offers accepted) by putting that applicant on the waitist and making an offer only if the applicant begs.

Sometimes the "I'm well above this school's average" vibe comes across in the interview and can be the kiss of death as it is interpreted as arrogance.

Ooh wow, thank you for the heads up.
