ARCOM
Pros
  • Nice campus and facilities
  • New research building (although idk if it will be much in use when I start)
  • Family oriented /close cohort
  • Cheaper (only by $5000/ year )
  • Convenient housing with student housing
  • Supportive faculty ( got to meet the Dean and president of the school at interview and a student says that the Dean is truly open door)
  • Impressive matches for 23’ (some ivy but in Primary care)
  • Some Rotation sites at good hospitals
  • More hands on In the beginning
  • Opt attendance
Cons
  • Curriculum is a bit in an experimental stage (new Dean)
  • Area outside of campus is a bit “dead” closest city about 45 min away
  • Accreditation is high monitoring
  • Lower board rates ( not by much)
  • Farther from home (14 hour drive)
  • Haven’t been able to network with students as much and ask about experience
  • Newer school
  • High staff turn over ( idk about recently though)
  • Not pass fail
LMU-KNOXVILLE
Pros
  • In a city
  • Good camaraderie
  • Better board prep ( board style questions on exams, uworld subscription…)
  • Supportive faculty
  • Have networked with more students who say they “love” their experience (always with a. Grain of salt though, lol)
  • Good accreditation
  • better pass rates (not by much)
  • More diverse match list
  • Closer to home (7 hr drive)
  • More established
  • Maybe better research opportunities?( idk though)
  • Closer to hospitals ( idk if this is helpful though)
  • Closer to a church of my denomination ( spiritual well being, lol)
  • Opt attendance
Cons

  • Housing is less convenient/more expensive
  • Rotations are more sporadic and (maybe) not as good
  • Building/facility not as nice ( just a old office building that they renovated… technology and stuff still there)
  • More expensive ( not by much)
  • White coat given at the end of second year
  • Didn’t get to tour to have a “gut” feeling
  • No new research building…lol
  • Less hands on in the beginning
  • Not pass fail --
Summary: both seem great, but I’m just not sure which one is better in the long run and overall. I never really got to tour LMU, which is why I’m more hesitant with it but they seem to have better pros, but the arcom building just feels like med school from this side of the process lol.
