Hi,

I was wondering if a school offer either LDS or HPSL after maxing out the unsubsidized fed loan can the student take the remainder COA amount from LDS or HPSL?

This is also assuming one already qualifies for the HPSL or LDS if the school is on the participating list of schools.

So I am basically trying to figure out the loan options.

First is fed unsubsidized
then Grad Plus for most if they do not qualify for HPSL or LDS but if a student does qualify then
is HPSL or LDS used instead of the Grad Plus loans?

Is there anyone who has done this or is pretty sure?

Schools place an annual cap on the amount of HPSL/LDS funding a student can receive as funding is quite limited. These funds are intended to replace part of what you would be borrowing in Grad PLUS with a more favorable loan, not remove reliance on the Grad PLUS entirely.

Gold info. Thank you. Then I will apply to LECOM since they have neither HPSL and or LDS. Am I correct? I got this off of the participating schools list.

No idea what LECOM offers, but why would you apply to a school specifically because they don't offer HPSL?
