Hi everybody. can you tell me how can i find a loan for advanced standing program in the US,since i`m a Canadian permanent resident? i curently live in the US but i don`t know anyone in the US who can be my co-signer.also i don`t have long credit history here. can you tell me some US organizations or agencies who can give me this loan, or i should rely mainly on Canadian Banks?

As a Canadian, you don't need an advanced standing degree. If you have a DDS from Canada it is completely accepted by all US dental boards.

If you got your DDS from a different country and now live in Canada then your only options are 1) CanHELP through TERI or 2) MEFA if the dental school is in Massachusetts.

An important distinction is that from what I remember, MEFA does not have a deferment for post-grad studies.

yeah, my DDS is not from Canada, that`s why i`m going into advanced standing in the US. thanks for the info. probably it would be imposible to get a loan from US Banks,even though i can find a lot of Canadian co-signers... wish you luck : )

thanks rajkang. i did my "homework" before posting my question - search this forum and.. i was just hoping that someone canadian who study here in this program can tell me where my biggest chances are. i know that there are few organisations dealing with this issue, but i don`t think that they could help in this particular case. that why i asked so specificaly. well, this topic will be highly discused probably after few months , when most of the applicants will get their acceptance letters.

I am canadian and since you are living in usa you can get loan from accessgroup without cosigner. e.g. Assuming you are on H4 , then your husband can get "Sponsored access loan" for you.

Nice to know that it's possible to get loan for DDS program without a cosigner..But is it only for people from Canada or does it apply for Indians who are on H4 also?

Hi ,try Royal Bank of Canada.They give loan upto Cad $ 50K /yr without cosigner.Total of 150K.

thanks to everyone for their help.i`ll try everything, and then i`ll post my expierience for those who`ll need the same information. as i can see what`s happening in Canada thise days, i think that the numbers of foregin trained denists coming to sudy here will increase, so they gonna need this info.
