Surprised I haven't seen this brought up anywhere yet. The original story is interesting but the neurologist in the article asked the same question that popped into my head when I saw the video of this guy "typing".
For anyone not familiar with "facilitated communication" it was quite the rage in the world of autism in years past and was thought to be a breakthrough in allowing severe autistics to communicate (Offutt uses the story as a jumping off point in the book referenced in my sig). I'll be interested to see how this plays out becuae it will be incredibly easy to debunk this patient's typing if it isn't real...
