Longevity of a job

Just wanted yalls opinions on how long one must work a job in order for it to be meaningful for the application. I'm currently an ekg tech and the hours are rough, lots of overnights (while taking 17 hours).

Oh, and don't give me any of that crap about "do something you enjoy"...i'm doing this just to gain experience, not to enjoy it.

Well, if you're wanting to gain experience, you should keep working as long as you can. That's how you get to be more experienced, and also how you show your determination and dedication. And you might also find that if the experience is too "rough", maybe this is not the right field for you. Knowing what you don't want to do is helpful too.

I was a tech in an ER for about a year (Soph yr of college), loved it, but decided to go ahead and start doing research, which I ended up doing for 2 1/2 yrs. Admissions committees were impressed by both jobs, especially the clinical experience in the ER. IMO, I would say a year is good enough to learn what it's all about. Obviously, you wouldn't want to work for like a month and then quit, saying that you gained all kinds of great experience. But it is very hard to say how long is "long enough."

I have sooo been there and partied. One of my brothers, who is from Baton Rouge, was married there about 3 yrs ago. We hung out with you guys- when to that place "the tiger" or something, and partied a little at the house. The girl he married had a little brother named Jonathan that had just been initiated into Gamma. I think you guys had just gotten your chapter back or just gotten off probation, something like that. It was a good time.
