Hello once again!
I just wanted to update everyoneon what happened with Albert Einstein since I heard from them last week. Well, after 16 WEEKS of waiting for an answer, they didn't outright reject me. An administrator named Lorraine Mango, said they wanted me to go to the Univ. of Buffalo to take science courses for a year. As long as I maintained a B average throughout the whole year, that they would automatically accept me in the following year. I had never heard of such a thing, and I wasn't liking the idea the moment she told me. I can't put off med school for another year, without a guarantee that I'd get in. She said this program was for special applicants or something, but as it turned out I wasn't eligible for the program because according to the rules in order to be in this program you had to not have any acceptances from any med school. I have an acceptance from UMDNJ-RWJ (they knew that already because I told them that in my letter of interests). Anyway, Kerrigan said she couldn't make any exceptions, and completing this program was the only way I could go to Einstein. So essentially they had to reject me.

I'm not terribly upset, because they put me in a real bad position that I didn't appreciate. Granted, my grades are not the best, but their school is not worth jumping through hoops for.

I have an interview at Downstate on Wednesday. I'm waitlisted at two school and waiting to hear from three. I don't think I'm in bad shape.

WATCH OUT THOUGH!!. I didn't like what they did to me. Be cautious if a school takes too long getting back to you.

Thanks for all of your help.

I have to admit that does suck!!!! It is funny some people, particularly dr. kermit had such a great visit there, where the interviewer and students bent over backwards, were very receptive and all round great. When I visited, my interviewer was too lazy to read my application, the students seemed rediculously stressed (and there was a test in 3 weeks!) Go to robert wood don't ever take a "promise" for next year because there is no such thing, unless maybe (possible witjout telling rw) you can defer for the year and take the classes (which is a joke) and if it works out it does, and if it doesn't you still have rw! but you maybe risking rw

Hey Jenny,

Sorry to hear that... like Dr. Kermit, I had a really amazing experience while interviewing at Einstein, and all the admin ppl (Lorraine Longo included) and students were extremely nice and helpful...

Still, i have never heard of this "take classes at Buffalo" thing... so, from reading your post, is that not even an option for you because you already have an acceptance elsewhere? That is strange... did you meet all of their premed requirements? I still don't really understand what this is all about... did you do poorly on a particular class or something??? 😕

Like Trout said, I wouldn't even bother with this extra year of classes unless they can put it in writing (ASSURING you acceptance the following year) *AND* you still really really want to go to Einstein. RWJ is a really great school, so unless you have personal reasons for wanting to wait another year, i would just start med school this fall...

good luck with the rest of the interviews, and let us know how it all goes!

oh my god.

Now I am getting worried.
Geez..

I have never heard of that.
