Hey guys, I'm attending CSPM this fall and was wondering if anyone had advice on housing and transportation here. I know CSPM doesn't have on-campus housing and I'm coming from out of state so looking for places/[people to live with] is quite cumbersome to figure out.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

Ok, there are a few places to live and a few places not to live

FYI, I live in Concord and drive about 25 minutes to get to school. Concord is ok, I would do Walnut Creek, Lafeyette or Orinda or Moraga, if you have a low tolerance to crime.
Once you get past the tunnel on highway 24, you are looking at an Urban environment, were you need to be more discriminating on where you live. There are decent places in Emeryville and Berkeley, and even a few very select places in Oakland. If you live up on the Oakland or Berkeley hills, It will be nice, but more pricey. If you live close to the school, make sure you don't venture too far west of the school unless you like getting shot. Stay east or directly south of campus if you choose to live nearby. BTW, everywhere near school charges for parking, so you have to budget that in. Don't live in Richmond.

If you love stop and go traffic, you could move to SF, however there is never easy parking, rent is 1.5- 2 times higher and literally EVERYTHING costs at least 25 percent more to buy. But some people think it's great and love living on top of each other.

Shoot me a PM if you want more info,
DJ

Hello everyone! I’m so excited about joining the CSPM class of 2015! A quick question about housing. What is considered a "good price" for rent of a one bed one bath apartment? Coming from Philly, these prices seem to be outrageous! Any information would be greatly appreciated. So far I have found some places in Alameda, CA that are fairly reasonable and only 15 min away from the school. If someone can let me know of a place less than 1200 a month with security and close to the school, that would be great. Can’t wait to meet you all. :0)

I live in San Francisco in the Glen Park neighborhood and am looking for someone to fill an opening starting July 1. It's about 4 blocks from the Glen Park Bart, which you can easily take to the MacArthur bart station in oakland (there's a shuttle that goes from MacArthur to school). It's about 15 miles from school, counter commute so traffic is never bad.. the only thing that sucks is the toll coming back to SF, that's why I always took the Bart. Let me know if you want the room. I need to fill the vacancy for July! the room is $950.. has its own bathroom.

I'm a 4th year pod student btw. best of luck to you at CSPM.
