Does anyone know anything about getting scholarships as a non-trad? I do not know if my scores or my grades will be high enough at this point to get a scholarship, but I am curious as to what kind of scholarships are out there for non-trads. I am looking for academic type scholarships and would like to look into GLBT scholarships. There are alot of websites out there with loan info. but scholarship info. is limited. Any advise would be great! Thanks

There are scholarships for non-trads or trads that are merit based and many schools will offer them to you. I have not heard of "other" scholarships that you can apply to though...so most schools will contact you after you have been accepted. If you need any more specifics send me a PM.

Seriously though, I'm curious to learn about this as well. Grants and scholarships may play a HUGE role in where I go to school, but I have no idea about how they work or how one goes about getting them.

Just to clarify, are you talking about for undergrad/post bac, or for med school? If it's the latter, getting scholarships is difficult, but some people do get them. Some schools ask you to apply for them. I did this at Miami and was awarded the scholarship, and at Wash U, where I am still waiting to hear back. Other schools consider you automatically, and when they offer you an acceptance, they will offer you the scholarship at the same time. This was what U. Chicago did. Does that help? I'm sorry, but I don't know anything about scholarships that are specifically for GLBT applicants. All scholarships that I know about are awarded based on merit, need, or a combination of both. You might try searching on one of the free scholarship websites though, just in case there actually is one out there. 🙂
