Just sent in my info and they want me to come in for an interview 🙂. I"m actually very excited because i will be able to share what i have learned from the DAT process with others.

They only accept like 1/5 of the interviewees. Bring a good speech 🙂 They are more inclined to bring in MCAT teachers and have them do DAT also. Sucks for us...

well thats kinda good in a way because i have taken the mcat too 😀, but i much prefer to teach DAT (b/c discrete questions) but i would do both if they made it necessary.

11 -bio
10 -physical
7-verbal :scared:

Thanks for the tips!

hey, thats awesome man, i'm did the same thing, the only problem is that the DAT class already had a teacher, so i ended up cross-training for the SAT, and now i'm teaching that....guess its not too bad, they pay 15$/hr for SAT and like 20$/hr for DAT i believe. and dont know where ur applying, but here in tampa, its not hard. we had 3 ppl apply, and all of us finished the training. as long as u have a clear talking voice, and know ur material, ur fine. good luck.

My location seems to have a desperate need for DAT teachers. When I walked in and asked about teaching for the DAT, they basically rolled a red carpet out in front of me. Although I still have to do that teaching interview on Tuesday 😎

Make sure that your presentations are something that you are interested in and something that the staff will be interested in. They don't necessarily have to be science-related.

Have FUN with them and they'll hire you!

I use to actually teach for them about a year ago. The presentation is actually quite a joke. Just try to find a way to deliver your speech with some humor, and you should have no trouble landing the job. Mine was on something about exercising (can't exactly remember). If you really want the job bad enough, just give yourself credentials that you don't actually have. For example, I told them that I had a dual degree in Biology and Biochemistry from the university that I attended, when I really didn't. That seemed to impress the heck outta them. 👍

The job is actually kinda boring though because you won't be able to teach them what you know. You are going to have to use the "kaplan method" to get your point across. The job, to me anyway, was really boring. Maybe because I really hate teaching 😀

well i shouldn't need to make up credentials actually 🙂
I finished college (BS in biology) in 6 semesters with a 3.8
took 15 hours semester 1
18 semester 2,3
21 semester 4,5,6

Granted it wasn't at harvard, but it wasn't a crap school either (http://www.mwc.edu)
