Hi,

I'm an MS-3 planning on going into OB/GYN. I'm trying to start scheduling 4th year, and I was wondering how programs feel about LORs from away rotations. If you did an away at program A and sent that LOR to program B, would program B wonder why you did an away at A instead of B and thus be less inclined to rank you highly? Or are all LORs created equal (assuming they're good and from good sources in the depatrment)?

Thank you! I know I'm overanalyzing, but I really appreciate your feedback.

It depends on who writes you the letter at an away rotation. If for example, you do a gyn onc away rotation and it is with someone who is very well known, then that letter could possibly work for you. I think a letter like that would get you farther than from a jr. faculty member who you might have worked with during your medicine clerkship.
