Any thoughts on whether it would hurt to have an LOR from a family doc rather than an internal medicine doc. My family practice attending I worked with longer and really respected my skills, so I know she would write a fantastic letter. Probably wouldn't hurt for radonc I'm thinking, but what about for prelim year? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Other two letters would be from radoncs.

That is the route I took, getting an LOR from a family doc who knew me well, and not an internist, and I matched 😀, so it couldn't have been that bad of an idea...

Received interviews at every prelim applied to, though TY's may be a different matter all together.

Thanks...any other input would be appreciated

I guess in my mind I just break letters down into radiation oncology and non-radiation oncology. I wouldn't make a distinction between FM and IM, and I would go with the person who knows you better and will write a better/more meaningful letter. However, this may depend on where you apply and who will be reading your CV.
