I matched and am just about to finish up my PGY1 year in my program. Things are going well and happy so far. I was just reviewing my file that had my LOR's and I noticed one of them (which was anonymous to me since I declined to see it) had my last name mispelled and had the wrong year (2011 when it was 2013 when I rotated with the lady). I was a little pissed off originally when I saw this because everyone talked about how wonderful my letters were content wise during the interview trail last year, but I wonder if my Letter writer's inability to pay attention to a little detail was a huge negative on my end? I waived my rights to see the letter when I requested it and just noticed it now.

I was just wondering if this made me look really bad?

Thanks

Relax. Any errors in the letter did not reflect on you at all. Programs know that the majority of letters are based on a template and sometimes not everything gets updated from one person's letter to another. If the person who wrote your letter doesn't write letters often, they probably had to go back a couple of years to find a past letter to use as a template for yours and didn't update the year. If the person writes letters all the time, the letter before yours may have used the 2011 date. This is nothing to get upset about. The writer obviously got the important part right in conveying that you were a strong candidate for residency.

I would email the lady and tell her that she is a royal (unt.
