Is it inappropriate to have a letter of recommendation from an attending who is also going to be writing your Dean's letter?
I worked with a certain attending who I asked to write me a letter and then subsequently he was elected to be the advisor who writes Dean's letters for applicants. He has already written the letter for me, but this was before he was elected as advisor.
I'm just wondering if this would be looked at strangely and if I should just not use his letter. Thanks!

It's not inappropriate, and I doubt many will notice. The two letters will have very different content -- the Dean's letter is about all of your rotations, where the LOR is their specific rotation. I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you have lots of other LOR's, you could certainly switch to another, but I would only do this if you really want to.
