Soo I have been putting off asking science professors for letters of recommendation for a while now, just because frankly I am terrified...all of my science classes have been 300+ student lectures, and I am not the type of student to ask questions in class or come into office hours. I worked for two optometrists for 2 years who I know will write me great recommendations, but I just don't know how to approach a professor to ask them to write me a letter...they have no idea who I am, and I didn't even get an awesome grade in the class (I go to a highly-ranked school known for its extremely rigorous science classes). I'm sure these professors get hundreds of requests to write LORs, and I don't even know what they would say about me if they were nice enough to agree to it.
Any tips on how to approach this problem? Should I email them about it, or stop into office hours? Should I ask optometry schools if they would be willing to accept non-science professor LORs instead?(I'm a management/soci major, and the classes are much smaller). I'm also President of an eyecare related organization on campus - could I maybe request my contact at the national organization's headquarters to write a LOR? I have worked with them closely and they would definitely be able to speak to my work ethic and all the time and effort I've put into making that organization run.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

science (and an instructor to your class) is highly preferred. go to office hours and actually try to participate. do well in a class. It can be scary to ask for a letter, especially if they have no idea who you are, so try to get to know them, and of course that involves speaking to them.
