ERAS lets you click the boxes next to each LOR author when you select a program to apply to. It seems like it will let you click 4 on almost every selection. If the program only wants 3 LOR, will it let you pick 4? Or, do you need to know how many LORs the program wants by looking their site up and then only clicking three. Is there a place to find this without looking up each program?

My understanding is programs get annoyed if you send more than they ask for. I dont want to mess it up. 😳

Anyone have an answer?

Every program I've looked at requires you to send in "a minimum of ___ letters," and it's always been 3 or 4.

The most you can send in is 4. That's not going to be too many for any program unless they specify a limit, and I've yet to see any do that.

Some places do state they only want 3 letters (although I personally only saw one when I was applying) and the only way to find that out is on their website.
Wow! Good to know. With an ERAS limit of 4 LORs, I'm surprised programs would limit students to 3. Takes all kinds, I guess...
