As the title states, I am kind of embarrassed that this is even popping into my mind is a concern but it’s a concert I’d like to address.

So one of my main letter writers has a signature that is basically just a squiggly lines and doesn’t really look like a signature. When he submits my LOR will the quality signature really matter? Like you can tell it’s handwriting but it doesn’t look like anything but just a wavy line. I know, it’s a really stupid question but it’s a letter from my platoon Sergeant of six years so I feel like that’s an important letter. Thank you for helping...

Yes, I understand that this is probably a stupid concern...

Note: I have not and will not actually see my LOR, this is just how they sign everything from orders to their mortgage (known them for 7 years now)

Sounds stupid to me! Physicians have hideous handwriting anyway

Amen. My mom was a nurse who once had a surgeon show her his signature in case she had any doubt about his orders.... two vertical lines with a long horizontal line starting to the left of the first vertical and extending well to the right of the second. "Harrison!"

Your platoon sargeant won't cause us to even blink.

Righteous, thank you all for alleviating my neurotic concerns. The LOR is basically the only aspect of the application not under applicant control so just irrationality of the concern

Illegible signatures are practically required in medicine. we had to sign in for a mandatory small group activity recently, and you wouldn't have been able to read a single signature on that sheet if it hadn't been right next to our typed name. The staff member collecting the sheet actually went around the room and individually made fun of each of our signatures
