Is it still possible to have LOR submitted into ERAS? Unfortunately, I was under the impression that all my documents had been turned in...so far none of the programs I've applied to have mentioned any missing documents. However, I checked my application status today to find that one of my LOR was never sent to ERAS and only 2 letters are in file. What can I do? Is it too late?

I doubt it will make any difference at this point. You certainly can still do it.

Thanks for the response! So what do mean " it won't make a difference?" My application is incomplete because the programs I've applied to request 3 LORs. So will I still be eligible for the match? I would really appreciate any info

Did you get interviews?

Yes I did. I got interviews to all the places i applied to and they've all told me that they're ranking me highly. I don't understand how no one has noticed that my application is incomplete. Could they have overlooked it? and will this affect my chances of matching anywhere? thanks for the advice!

I would go ahead and upload/transmit it if possible. Then email the programs and tell them what happened. It's probably not that big of a deal and you want to make sure that you don't F it up at this point.

Might as well, but if programs interviewed you and didn't comment upon it, they probably don't care at this point. You'll sleep better having done it.

Thank you for all your advice! I'll take care of this first thing tomorrow morning 🙂

Question for APD -- do you folks use the number of LORs as a filter when screening applications in ERAS or it is something you happen to read after you've done the usual screening (step1 score, etc..)?

It's very low on the list. Very, very low.

If the number of letters is low the day you interview, I'll usually bring it up.

If you are an IMG or DO, then it's more important -- I get 1000's of applications, and not getting LOR's in on time = not organized enough = less likely to get an interview.

I had one person send me 8 letters this year. That got them off my interview list also. ERAS limits to 4 letters for a reason.

aPD...

you should bold that last sentence of yours. Every year we get questions about "can I submit more than the numbers of letters a program asks for?". This should show them there's a limit and a good reason for it.

8 letters?🙄
