I had a LOR uploaded through LWP by an attending. I have assigned it to the specialty I wanted it assigned to (finalizing? ). Its now lying there (ADTS) waiting to appear in myeras post office.
My question is that I have heard that there is a way of speeding up this process if I send the letter ID to that LoR writing attending? Is this correct? Can someone please shed some light on this process?
I am an IMG though. So, sorry if its a stupid question 😳

The Letter ID is the code that the LOR writer uses to upload the letter to the LOR portal. So, if they actually uploaded the letter themselves to the portal, you've done all you can, and the letter should be delivered in the next 24 hours.

If your letter writer mailed the letter to ERAS/ECFMG to be scanned (which is what happened in prior years, this LOR portal is new this year), then there can be a several week delay getting your letter scanned and uploaded. IN that case, if your letter writer was willing to figure out how the LORportal works (which is not complicated), then doing that would be MUCH faster than waiting for it to be scanned by ERAS/ECFMG.

Thanks for the reply.
Well, he did use the LWP. I had sent him a request through OASIS LOR request. When he uploaded that LOR, I received an email from [email protected] informing me that the LOR was uploaded. It further said that in order to assign this LOR to programs, your letter writer needs to be finalized in myeras and that the process after finalizing would take up to 1 to 2 weeks and after that the LoR will be available in myeras application.

It's been a week but I still don't have it in myeras yet.
Is there something I am doing wrong or is there something I am missing?

no bizarrely it can sometimes take weeks for the letter to be uploaded even if your letter writer electronically uploaded it. frustrating, yes! especially at the time of year. earlier on (i.e. july) it does appear in 24 hours or so (sometimes less).

I was under the impression that you can deselect a letter that you had assigned to a program as long as the letter had not been uploaded yet. Is that correct?
