I have some inquires about LOR's.
Ok here I go...
I am starting this program where I am a S.I. leader for biology (a supplementary instrutor). I attend a biology class (I picked a professor I know and have had the semester prior who is a UCSD alumni) and so I will be working with her and her students and basically leading review sessions with her students so they pass, because the bio dept, is seeing that alot of students give up/unmotivated by biology and tend to drop or fail. So basically I am not a professor but I am higher than a tutor.
So I was going to ask her for an LOR at the end of the program so I can use for pharmacy school. Well the problem is that I am not quite done with the pre-req and I may not be able to attend pharmacy school until fall 2011. So do I still get a LOR from her and keep it or just skip it and ask someone else for one later on (I may not be at that school before I apply to pharmacy school)?
Any advice or other info regarding LOR's would be helpful since I am sort of new to LOR's/asking for them....
Thanks 🙂

Just ask her if she will write you a LOR in the future. It's probably better to have her wait until you are ready to apply as there are certain questions she will need to answer and forms to fill out. It sounds like that LOR would be pretty good based on what you have to do for the class, so I think it would be worth getting one from her rather than using another prof from later on down the road.

The thing is I won't be at the school she is at, I am transfering this fall, so what do I do?
I don't want to waste a perfectly good LOR

if you apply through pharmcas, all you will need is the professors email. you enter her information on the site and they email her regarding the 'letter', its really more of a questionnaire. I would just give her a heads up, asking her if she would give you a good recommendation in the future, and an email address that is permanet that you could contact her at when you apply. If you are really doing good work, and work closely with her, she probably (unless she is a heartless jerk) will not have any reservations about helping you. I was kind of hesitant when i asked my bio teacher for a recomendation, but turns out he was very willing and excited to help. So just ask her for it, but with the preface that you will need it when you apply.
