About how many letters of recommendation do you need for most medical schools and do they need to be from specific types of people / faculty? I am worried because I will be able to get a lot of good LORs from the non-profits I have worked with as well as professors I have done research for. However, I go to one of the biggest Universities in the US and have not been able to get to know the professors from my classes as well. Thank you!

Some med schools have different requirements about what letters they require. However, almost all will require two LORs from science faculty. It doesn't matter how big your university is, you should be getting to know your professors. I promise you that if you put in the effort by going to office hours as much as possible, you can get to know them well enough. You can definitely get a letter from your PI or an employer, but you won't be able to get around the fact that you need to have letters from science faculty who have taught you.

Try doing a search for more advice on this, since this question has been addressed significantly in previous threads!

Cover your bases. Two LOR's from science faculty WHO HAVE TAUGHT A CLASS AND GRADED YOU (one of them from your major). One LOR from humanities.

That should cover the vast majority!
