Does anyone know anything about the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, Veterinary Public Health and Rabies Control Program's externship?

http://publichealth.lacounty.gov/vet/externship/main.htm

Seems like it would be a good fit for me, but don't know of anyone from my school who has participated in the program so I would love to hear from someone who has, or even just someone who has any info. It would require a significant financial commitment so I would love to learn more before applying.

Thanks so much.

If the "significant financial commitment" part is due to travel, it should be easy enough to set up an externship with your local state public health veterinarian once you're in your 3rd or 4th year of vet school. I spent 6 weeks at my state public health department between 3rd & 4th year and it was a great experience!!

Yep, that's what I meant. I would have to fly there, pay for a place to stay, and possibly rent a car for a month. For these reasons, it's looking like more local options are more feasible. Thanks for the reply!
