Lost my dog - some questions

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Just checking in with hopes and prayers for you and Andy.

Yesterday I was at the local Humane Society to buy my 2011 dog license, and there was a lady there who had come to pick up her cat who went missing 8 or 9 MONTHS ago (can't remember exactly which one she said). She said she never gave up and after the first month of looking in vain she made sure to send a photo once a month to all her contacts - humane societies, vets, rescues, etc.

And eventually, a cat was picked up and someone at the shelter said, you know, that looks like.....AND IT WAS!!!

😍😀:luck:

Yep....never give up hope. I had a cat run off and was gone for a little over a year. Came back on what happened to be Valentines Day. He was a little more skittish, but ran in the house when I opened the door. He went straight to his cubby scratch post and hid for a couple of hours. Then slowly came out for some attention and love. Within a couple of weeks he was back to his old self. So, don't give up...I'm sure you will be reunited any day now.

I was doing scent work with my dog today and thought about you and Andy - I don't know if it would help, but since you have been gone from there for a while, maybe sending back some items with your scent on them (i.e. dirty shirt, socks). If the friends you were visiting could put the item on their back deck or something it might draw him in if he is still in the area. Dogs can zero in on a scent from quite a distance.

Don't give up hope. I have my fingers crossed you will be reunited soon.

Armymutt,
I saw you mention in the Vet forum that you have an 86-lb GR coming with you to NC. Please say that means you found Andy!:xf: I sure hope so!! I watched this thread so very intently and kept hoping to hear that you found him.
