"Required courses (labs are required for all science courses where labs accompany the course):
General Chemistry (2 semesters/3 quarters)
Organic Chemistry (2 semesters/3 quarters) )
Physics (1 semester/2 quarters)
Biology (4 semesters/ 6 quarters at minimum). Beyond the introductory course we suggest that you choose from among the following courses:
biochemistry (strongly recommended)
comparative anatomy or upper level human anatomy (strongly recommended)
physiology
cellular biology
histology
microbiology
immunology
other upper level biology courses"

what do they mean by "where labs accompany the course". do they mean labs that are already incorporated with the class (mandatory to take) or lectures that are separate from labs (not mandatory labs) or both?...

They mean that if your school offers a accompanying lab to the lecture they want you to take the lab too.

what if i cant fit the lab in my schedule......should i avoid taking the lecture course all together then?

what if the labs don't necessarily "accompany" the lectures but are separate classes?

This just means that for bio, chem, orgo, and physics: the labs are a mandatory prereqs in order to enter louisville. Ex. you took Bio I lecture and you took Bio lab.

For all other lecture courses listed (ex. Histology), you can take the course but its respective lab is optional to take and not a prereq for the dental school.

thanks for the clarification. that helps so much.
I'll take your word for it. KK?

Honestly, I don't think that Louisville's phrasing is convoluted at all. If the lab is available, they require you to take it.

For example, at my school, Biochem 1 does NOT have an accompanying lab. At other schools, though, Biochem 1 DOES have an accompanying lab. Obviously, someone at my school wouldn't have to take it, as it doesn't exist. The person at the other school would have to, though.

so you're saying what Paperclipz said is incorrect, right?

No, she's right. The "strongly recommended" classes are under a different header and aren't required at all, they're just suggested. The header of "labs are required" only applies to the first four topics listed.

They don't require you to take the suggested courses. However, if you DO take one of them, I'm sure they want you to have the lab, too--but they aren't going to deny you admissions if you don't.

This question is answered. Why do you need a bump?

im still very worried :S. so if i do decide to take an upper level science class im supposed to take the labs right? i worried because i cant fitthem in my schedule.

Tounchie, if you need peace of mind about the requirements I suggest that you call the admissions office on Monday. This way you know for sure.

And what Glimmer1991 explained is correct. If you decide to take an upper division course (that is NOT Bio, Chem, Organic C., or Physics) it is NOT mandatory for you to take the accompanied lab..only strongly suggested.

Again, the only required labs you have to take are the first 4 courses listed. Good luck!
