I really would like to know if my gpa is good (3.61 general, 4.0 pre-request from state university), but I only get average DAT (17 academic, 17 PAT). What might be the result? Do I still have the chance to be accepted? Thanks for your input.

I haven't done the DAT and plan to take it around mid Auguest.

Your GPA is pretty good and higher than average, however the DAT is usually weighed more heavily than GPA. That's because it is standardized while differences in GPAs can be due to the level of the University/College the student attends.

Even with that said, you still stand a very good chance of getting in. Keep your GPA up and take another shot at the DAT. There are people that just don't do well in standardized tests, so you can always explain that to the schools during your interviews.

I agree with you w3chen99

But, I am not sure if you should say "I don't do well on standardized tests" to an interviewer. If you plan to apply with the score you have (or will get) and you don't want to take it again for some reason, then just explain to them why you did bad(not enough rest, nervous, etc.) Because telling them you do bad on standardized tests might backfire on you. Just try to convince them that it was a fluke because I think they also use the DAT to predict how one might do on another standardized test in the future, like the Dental Board Exams for example.

Hi guys, thanks for sharing your opinions. I hope I won't fall in that situation. As you might have experienced, during the studying of DAT and application, many things make me worried. That is why I ask this question, probably strange to someone. Thanks the encouragement.
