Hello all, I figured I'd add one to the list of Low GPA Juniors!
I am a Biology/German double major at UNC-Charlotte with a 3.086 sGPA and 3.22 overall. I have had a few disappointing semesters, but am still determined. I am going to minor in Chemistry, but might take a few extra classes (3, inorganic, survey of P-chem, quantitative analysis) to give me a BA in Chemistry.
I am also volunteering weekly, (started earlier this month) in the emergency department at a hospital. I have to bring my Bio GPA up before I can begin researching in a Bio lab, and have submitted an application to tutor Organic chemistry.
Here's a list of the science classes I have taken, in the order I took them (leaving out general ed. and German).
Fall 2009- 12 Credits
Bio 1 : B
Calc 1:C
Spring 2010- 16 Credits
Bio 2: C
Bio 2 Lab (2credits): B
Chem 1: C
Chem 1L:A
Stats 1: A
Fall 2010 - 18 Credits
Horticulture: B
Chem 2: B
Chem 2L: A
Physics 1: A
Physics 1 L: A
Stats 2: A
Spring 2011 - 16 Credits
Physics 2: B
Physics 2L: C (???😕)
Organic 1: A
Organic 1L: A
Cell Bio: C ( 😱)
Cell Bio L: B
Fall 2011- 16 Credits
Ecology - Projected: A
Organic 2 - Projected: B
Organic 2 L- Projected: B
Spring 2012- Plans
Animal Physiology
Cardiovascular Physiology (special topic)
Survey of P-Chem
Chemistry Seminar (1 credit writing class)
As you can see, my performance, particularly in Biology, hasn't been stellar, but I am determined still. I have heard that if I had to make C's in any sciences, it would be good if they were in the beginner-level classes (except for my nasty Cell grade). I am going to work my _ _ _ off to earn A's in the physiology classes.
I was just wondering what you all think of my additional major(s)/minor, if that plays any role in counter-acting my not-so-good GPA.
I hope the post isn't too long, and thanks in advance,
Warren
