Hi... Im new to SDN. I wanted to apply for pharmacy school for this upcoming fall 2018. I was interested in applying to USJ and temple, and I wanted to know if I stood a chance. My GPA Currently overall is a 2.5, but I had a terrrible semester (I got all F's) which I'm explaining in my personal statement and application. Other than that I had a couple W's an F and A's, B's for the most part. Last semester I had straight A's (including orgo 1 and bio 1). I volunteered at a pharmacy for about a year and a half now and shadowed a dentist and volunteered at the hospital. I took the PCAT diagnostic and scored in the 90th percentile in bio and math, 70th in chem, and 13th in reading (I KNOW:( ) lol but I was wondering if I should apply now? Like before the PCAT and fall semester grades post? Im taking 21 credits this semester (including orgo 2) and getting straight A's. But I didn't want to be severely late for USJ and Temple admissions so what do you guys think? I appreciate any feedback. Thank you.

Just apply to more than those schools and you'll make it. Everyone does nowadays. As far as your chances for those specific schools, you have a chance.

Yeah because like I called admissions and they encouraged me to apply... so I guess I'll just hope for the best. Thank you for your time! Truly appreciate it

If you can afford the admissions process to pharmacy school (PCAT, PharmCAS, traveling to interviews) then apply. But as previously mentioned apply to more than those two schools to better your chances. I dont know of anyone in my class with a 2.5 GPA, thats not to say nobody has it though.

Surprised no one has chimed in with something along the lines of "They'll take anyone that'lol take out 200k in loans!"

I agree with the above comment, though. If you can afford it and you really don't want to take a year or two break, go for it. Otherwise, I would suggest retaking some classes or doing something to really make you stand out as an applicant.

Honestly I retook a bunch of the classes and with retakes my gpa is 3.4... I just don’t know of any pharmacy schools that do grade replacement

They don't, but the motivation and improvement say something, as does doing well on the PCAT.

However, for the PCAT, I would do research on the schools your applying to, many have composite minimums, but some have subject minimums (~25%).
