Five minutes into my Columbia interview, I quoted Newton's Principia verbatim at the interviewer's request....could not have hurt me.

do you even realize how obnoxious you are?

I don't know about you but I am 30 years old. If you are younger than me, than yes...wait another year and apply to US allopathic schools. I don't care if it takes you two more years of busting your ass 120 hours a week. You can do it and you'll be glad you did for as long as you live.

The only thing that I am worried about is my GPA and my MCAT scores.. I guess I will make my final decision in june. If my MCAT scores are not up to par, then I will have no choice but to go the top schools in the caribbean.. Right? I would love to wait, and continue more research.. Do you think I can get into a med school with a 3.0 gpa? (realistically speaking)..

And yes, I am younger than you.

If your MCAT scores are not up to par, you have another choice..........take it again!! Look - you decide on your standards and you do what is necessary to meet them. It might take another year, it might take another two years. It's up to you.

yeah, from what most my cousins say, staying the states would be better..
I think I'll probably wait another year and go fall of 2007..

You will never regret it. Make it happen.

I got a LOR from the J-Man.

It wasn't easy to get though. I had to spend a year or two helping him with his Stem Cell Research.

Not to hijack this thread or anything, but can anyone tell me why/how the average MCAT score of matriculants is going up? The test is built on a curve is it not? Does this mean that schools are weighing the MCAT more heavily than before, or is it some combination of A) having more people take the MCAT (so more 30+ scores) and B) schools opening up more spaces (taking more people with higher scores)?

The average can go up simply because schools are across the board taken higher quality applicants. It doesn't matter if the average MCAT score is still 30. Schools can just choose to accept fewer lower MCAT people. Perhaps there is less of an emphasis on GPA and more on MCAT these years.

Good for me I guess. Lower GPA but better EC and MCAT (hopefully) 😀

I flunked out of school. Then I transferred to a school that doesn't take transfer credit. Double major/double minor 3.75. Then I climbed the corporate ladder and kicked ass in an MBA position. Then I aced an ivy league postbacc program while working three paid jobs and three volunteer jobs, compiled 15 LOR's in my premed office and got a 36S. Five minutes into my Columbia interview, I quoted Newton's Principia verbatim at the interviewer's request....could not have hurt me.

But yes, I was accepted at a top 20 school with F's, D's and C's. I also interviewed and got waitlisted at Stanford and Cornell and was accepted to my state school.

Don't misunderstand...almost 20 med schools rejected me flat w/out interview.

Flunking out of school and then doing some crazy shiit for several years seems to be a good way to get into P&S. My AMCAS GPA was 3.17, and I got in, but I really worked my tail off to make up for it.
