What should I do?? I will be taking the Jan MCAT and I really had put a lot of time studying EK/KAPLAN prep course materials. On practice exams Kaplan full length, I scored 35 or so this year (last year.. in the teens 28ish), but i did not time myself because I wanted to make sure that i know how to tackle these problems first. As for the verbal, oftentimes I managed to eliminate and left with 2 choices, and 100% of the time i would choose the wrong one!!... what is wrong with me............? I always choose the one that sounds the best to me.. and ended up... getting it wrong =(... please... help. I am an extremely diligent person...if there is any methods to improve verbal, or even other sections.. please tell me....

Clearly, English isn't your first language. Where are you from originally? Anyway, with an MCAT that low I don't have too much hope for your situation. A 21 will not go too far with any school. I find it hard to believe you managed a 37 on kaplan tests and scored a 20/21 on your real tests.. There is DEFINITELY something wrong going on here. Regardless, your real MCAT is subpar and will most likely prevent you from getting an interview anywhere.

I did not find OP english or use of grammars that horrible for you to spot that he/she is an ESOL...How can you tell?

because he did the problems untimed and got a 37...that would be why. Whenever you take a practice test untimed, imo you are wasting it. Still, im also a little skeptical because 37 and 21 are so drastically different. It really does not seem like you understand content. If youre scoring that low then kaplan/ek is a bad match for you and you should consider TBR. Ive seen people get interviews this cycle with 22s but they either had amazing ECs or something else to give them an added lift.

Go to the mcat forum, use the SN2 plan, extend it 4.5-5 months if needed and practice doing all kinds of verbal passages and just read in general. Do everything timed, and become neurotic like everyone else is on the mcat forum, lol. And use tbr for content review, burn your kaplan/ek. Also do every single one of their passages, do it twice if you dont understand it.

Also, I feel like the mcat lately isnt representative of practice tests but stll with studying/hard work I feel like you can pull a 26-27 unless you have a learning disability.

Suggest practicing as much as possible with timed tests. If you contine to do poorly, then seriously think about another career.

If I were you, I would hire a private tutor and have the tutor guide you through your preparation. I think getting 1 on 1 guidance could really help you.

I agree. Majority of the AAMC exams, with the exception of last 2, are a complete joke in comparison to the real deal. I learned my lesson after bombing my first MCAT and was only able to raise my score by practice with much more difficult practice material.
